Susan K. Laird, DNP, MSN, RN, is a health communication specialist in the Office of Communication Science. She has served in a variety of roles in the 14 years she has been at CDC. Most recently, she served as Principal Deputy in the Joint Information Center (JIC) for the COVID-19 Response. She is a former marketing and advertising executive with extensive experience in all media with all types of businesses, including health care. An award-winning broadcast writer/producer, Dr. Laird made a 180-degree career change, earning her BS in nursing from Georgia State University in 1997.
